Kingdoms of Dominion: privacy policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Kingdoms of Dominion ("the game") is made and published by Ridge Theory LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the game handles, why, and the choices you have. Contact: privacy@kingdomsofdominion.com. This policy is published at https://kingdomsofdominion.com/privacy.
The short version
- Single-player is fully offline. The skirmish against the computer, the tutorial and the campaign send nothing to us or anyone else, and they work in airplane mode.
- No accounts, no ads, no purchases, no tracking, no analytics. We do not sell or share your information for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
- Online play uses Unity Gaming Services (made by Unity Technologies) to give your copy of the game a random player ID and, when available, to connect you with another player. It starts only when you open online multiplayer.
- Local (Wi-Fi) play connects your device directly to another player's device on the same network. Nothing goes to us.
1. Single-player and offline play
When you play the skirmish, the tutorial or the campaign, the game opens no network connection. Your saves, settings and match logs (a record of the commands and events of your matches, and an error log used to fix bugs) are stored only in the game's own storage on your device. They leave your device only if you share them yourself with the "Share match logs" button in Settings, which opens your device's share sheet; you choose where they go. In Settings, "Match logging" turns the logs off and "Delete logs" removes them.
2. Online play (Unity Gaming Services)
The first time you open online multiplayer, the game signs in to Unity Gaming Services anonymously. You do not enter a name, email, password or any account details. The sign-in sends, and Unity stores:
- a random installation ID that Unity's software creates on your device the first time;
- the player ID that Unity's service assigns to that installation, and the sign-in tokens that keep it signed in;
- the game's project and environment identifiers, the platform and version of Unity's software;
- your IP address, which every internet connection reveals. Unity may use it to estimate a rough region, for example to pick a nearby server.
When available — private matches over the internet (Relay and Lobby). To play a friend over the internet you create or join a private lobby by code. Unity's Lobby service then stores the lobby's settings, its code and, for each player, the player ID and the name shown in the lobby, until the lobby closes. Unity's Relay service forwards the match's traffic (your game commands and the game's network messages) between the two players; it sees both players' IP addresses and estimates a rough region to choose a nearby relay server. Relay and Lobby record connection quality and service diagnostics for running the service.
Unity processes this information as our service provider, to make online play work, under its own privacy policy (https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy). We do not combine it with any other information and we do not use it to identify you, advertise to you or track you.
3. Local (Wi-Fi) play
Local play connects your device directly to the other player's device on the same Wi-Fi network. The two devices exchange their local network (IP) addresses, the game's version, the player name shown in the lobby (by default your device's name as your device reports it, for example "iPhone"), the chosen civilization and colour, and the match's commands. This stays between the two devices on your network; nothing is sent to us or to Unity. On iPhone and iPad the game asks for Local Network permission the first time you host or join; you can change it at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
4. Diagnostic reports (only if you switch them on; when available)
If you agree in the game's consent prompt, the game can send us a report after a match ends, to help us fix crashes, desyncs and bugs. It is off until you switch it on, and you can switch it off at any time in Settings. A report contains: the match recording (the commands and the game's events), the game's event and error logs for that session (taps and buttons as types and rough screen positions, frame times, memory use), the map, mode, civilizations, match length and result, the game version and build, your device model and operating-system version, and a random report ID made on your device (not linked to your Unity player ID, name or advertising ID; it changes when you delete your logs). Reports are sent over HTTPS to our service on Cloudflare (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/), which processes your IP address to deliver them; our service does not store it with the report. We keep reports for 180 days and then delete them, unless one is part of a bug we are still fixing.
5. What we never collect
Your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone or camera, precise location, advertising ID, payment information, browsing history, or other apps on your device. The game has no chat, no ads, no in-app purchases and no social-media sign-in.
6. Why we use information, and legal basis
Only to provide online and local multiplayer (performance of the service you asked for) and, if you opt in, to fix bugs and improve the game (your consent). Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, these are the legal bases.
7. How long information is kept
- On your device: until you delete it in the game or uninstall the game.
- Unity: the player ID and its sign-in data are kept by Unity while they are in use and under Unity's retention rules; lobby data is removed when the lobby closes. You can ask us to delete your player ID (section 8).
- Diagnostic reports (if switched on): 180 days.
8. Your choices and rights
- Don't open online multiplayer, and nothing is sent. Single-player never needs it.
- On iPhone and iPad you can deny or revoke Local Network access in Settings.
- To have your online player data deleted, email privacy@kingdomsofdominion.com; we will delete it through Unity within 30 days. Uninstalling the game also removes the installation and player ID stored on your device.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your information. Email privacy@kingdomsofdominion.com to use them. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority. We do not sell or "share" personal information as the CCPA defines it.
9. Children
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The game asks for no personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers and security
Unity and Cloudflare may process information in the United States and other countries, under their own safeguards. Sign-in, lobby and report traffic travels encrypted (HTTPS/TLS), and match traffic through Relay is encrypted (DTLS). Local (Wi-Fi) match traffic stays on your own network between the two devices.
11. Changes
If what the game sends changes, we will update this page and the date above, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again in the game before sending anything new.
